The Director of Planning has the legal authority to make subdivision and zoning interpretations of the Subdivision Ordinance (Chapter 25) and the Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 26). In addition, a supplement to the Zoning Ordinance is available, which provides illustrations to assist the public in understanding and applying certain regulations, such as lighting, buffers, parking lot landscaping, and signage.

Code of Virginia

The laws within the Code of Virginia also apply to Hanover County.
